Heading back to FL

Well, it has been about two months since I posted my last update. As you could tell back then, things were not going as well as planned.
As you know, a large part of my reason for moving here was to provide my daughter with an opportunity to attend a top notch public school in a small town surrounded by beautiful nature. Being recently divorced,  I was hoping to start working on a career outside of the home while she attended school.

When the going gets tough

We all know the rest: the tough gets going. So here I am. Tough or not, I have no choice but to keep moving forward and  over a few obstacles I am finding in my way.  Although my original plan of going off grid is still a dream due to issues outside of my control, I intend to keep moving forward the best I can.

Valuable Failures

This week I was reminded of how gullible and trusting I am. I was reminded of past loves that promise eternity and vanish overnight, of my mother ' s tenacity, my family's love and my own physical limitations. At 5'4", there is only so much a body can do; specially with a herniated lumbar disk and three visits to the ER because of it.
Even though my week was not as successful or productive as I wish it would have been, I am a week closer to my goals. I am a week closer to the picture in my mind. I am closer to the ultimate version of me: I am a little wiser.

It's the little things that count

Like sunshine. And water out of a faucet.
Reason why this past week I concentrated  on making a stand alone wash sink and took full advantage of my new solar phone charger. I would be toasted without it.

The Beginning is Near

My tiny house was started this week. So, I sat in front of it and watched to learn. It was the best reality show in my book. The structure sits on blocks (yes, I am getting/ building a storm shelter) and is 12'×20' with a loft for kiddo. I am now completely consumed by thoughts of meeting our most immediate necessities: water and power.

Week 2 gone and counting...

Well, it is more like 1.5 weeks since I arrived here and already it feels like home. Even though I dont have one yet. The people are easy going and friendly. With 3 big box hardware stores, national and local grocery stores and mom and pop restaurants and businesses, I have everything I need at my disposal. Except money. Oh boy, how I wish I had more of it!!

A New Era for Me

Here I am. In Arkansas. Land that I had never seen until recently. There is beautiful country side, sky and clean air.
I am looking forward to experiencing the seasons again (although tge winter is much milder than NJ) and curling up with a good book while it snows.

What's in a Name?

Today, I walked into the living room and very excitedly asked my daughter and sister in law what name I should call my new blog. The place where I want to record our adventures, mistakes and experiences in the new path I have chosen. They both agreed: "That crazy lady" would be the perfect name for my blog. Alas, it was taken. So, I have decided on another.
